20 Sales Tips To Earn BIG Commissions While You Sleep or Play
One of my favorite hobbies is bicycling. While this isn't me to your left, I want to point out that you could be out bicycling, playing tennis or doing yoga while your referrals are signing up for my programs or services and you're making money.
Anyhow, soon after I was introduced to this affiliate concept, one of my mentors, Publicity Hound Joan Stewart, gave me a long list of tips to get going. With her permission, I readapted her make-money-as-an-affiliate advice. Therefore, thanks to her generosity, I was able to create this help section for you. Recently, I added 3 more tips -- some of my favorites (which are #18, #19 and #20). Anyhow, feel free to turn around and adapt this list for your needs, too, but I ask you to respectfully give credit to both Joan and me, with links to our sites.
Bear in mind that many tips are easy.
Sales Tip #1: Give a personal endorsement.
By endorsement, we mean that you recommend my program, and since your visitors trust your opinion, they’re more likely to click through and check me out. Emphasize what my information has done for you or your clients. Anytime you can add a phrase about how my book SUGAR SHOCK! or Break Free With Glee program helped you personally or a client. It will mean more referral fees for you! The best testimonials give exact details of how you or your clients benefited.
Here’s an example of a testimonial I personally like, because she gave specifics as to how kicking sugar helped her life; how the group helped; time frame during which it occurred, etc.
"I have been with Connie's program for approximately 3 months. In that time, I have significantly cut back on my sugar and simple carb intake. Besides the immediate benefit of not feeling exhausted and irritable, I have noticed a longer term benefit -- significantly reduced PMS.

Be honest. Of course, I’m not suggesting that you make things up. Say something that holds true for you. If you’ve found value in my radio show, book, etc. and it’s gotten results for you or your clients, say so!
Your personal recommendation of my program could gain up to 400 percent more clicks than just providing people a link – and that means you triple or quadruple your referral fees! If you know me, you know how powerful my material is and that I should be charging a lot more for it...so you can give it your personal recommendation.

Sales Tip #2: Use the "Refer a Friend" form.
After you become an affiliate, use your "Refer a Friend" Form by logging into your affiliate account and clicking on the "Refer a Friend" link. You can use this over and over to tell your friends and colleagues about Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™.
Sales Tip #3: Refer to this Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™ in your email signature.
You can refer to my products in your email signature line or when you post to email discussion lists, forums and newsgroups (but remember – absolutely NO SPAM.) Once you sign on as an affiliate, I'll send you a suggested two-line item to use.
Sales Tip #4: Mention this Break Free Program in your email messages.
Give your clients, friends and overweight, stressed-out, sugar-addicted friends, loved ones and acquaintances your affiliate link when they send you an email and ask you a question that relates to weight loss and kicking sweets or simple carbs. When you hit "Reply" and answer their question, you might add something at the end of the message like this:
"P.S. I recommend you check out my friend Connie Bennett's transformational Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction in 6 Weeks Program™, which is packed with more than 50 ways to cut sugar cravings, proven tips and tactics to end your sugar habit and life-changing ways to tone up, manage stress and find meaning in life. We've been following Connie, the presenter, for several years and her ideas and that of experts she mentions are terrific! Go to [PLACE YOUR AFFILIATE LINK HERE TO THE BREAK FREE SITE]."
See sample email (which I'm emailing you and including above -- just click on the link that says Sample Email to Send). You can copy this email and use it send to your friends or your mailing list.
Sales Tip #5: Send an endorsement to your email list.
If you have a newsletter, ezine, or a customer email/database list, it can be a very powerful way to promote the Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™. This is a way to really make big referral fees.
For example, you could write the following to your customer database: “Thank you for purchasing [insert your product here] not too long ago. We appreciate your business. I am emailing you for two reasons. The first is to thank you for your business and the second is to mention something that we thought would be of interest to you . . ." [At this point you put in your recommendation.]
If you have an electronic newsletter or magazine (ezine), you could include a special mailing to your list. You could tell your readers that you’re emailing them separately from the regular ezine because you’ve found something that's worth mentioning and you wanted to bring it to their attention. (Then insert a recommendation like the one above.) This approach will, by far, pull in the best response, because it is a personal note separate from the standard newsletter, and it will demand attention and urgency.
A word about autoresponders: For those of you who don't know, an autoresponder automatically sends an email message to whoever you want it sent to and when you want it sent. Autoresponders are great for allowing people to get your content without your direct input. You set it up once and they can access the information anytime. For instance, you can put your short recommendations in along with the information that’s already going out on the autoresponder. Some people get lots of requests a day for free things like articles, newsletters, tip sheets etc. or new programs. You can make money just by sending a personal recommendation and link along with each automatic response. All you have to do is take a minute to add the recommendation and link to your emails, and it automatically goes out around the clock, day in and day out, year in and year out with no other work on your part.
Want an autoresponder easy and shopping cart that calculates affiliate percentages, etc.? If you'd like to learn about my autoresponder, I use MarketersChoice.net from master marketer Alex Mandossian. Marketers Choice is a private-label for 1 Shopping Cart, which I really love. I strongly urge you to sign up for this version of 1 Shopping Cart, and if you do, would you be kind enough to give out my Merchant ID? It's 74429. (Minor confession: Yes, I do get a 20% affiliate referral fee.) Don't feel ready for a shopping cart? The reason you want a shopping cart is that it will easily track all of your affiliate sales. You do not want to get affiliate partners without having a shopping cart first.

Sales Tip #6: Reprint my free articles at your website.
Reprint one of my free articles under the "Free Articles" button at your website. One of my more popular articles is “7 Tips to Squash Your Sugar Habit.” You also can find more articles at my Sugar Shock Blog (http://www.SugarShockBlog.com). Be sure to replace my links with YOUR special affiliate link so you earn the commission. Sales Tip #7: Mention the Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™ on your blog.
If you have a blog, I invite you to mention my Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™ when you post, and then link back to my Break Free website using your affiliate link. In fact, feel free to excerpt tips you see in my ezine for your blog. Sometimes, you can lift the entire sales pitch from my ezine, just as I have written it. Again, always be sure to use your own affiliate link. Blogs provide tremendous opportunity for you to pitch my program, and your visitors will thank you. (Keep a lookout for the blog post I already wrote for you.)
Sales Tip #8: Add me to your "Favorite Links" page.
When you link to www.BreakFreeWithConnie.com on your "Favorite Links" page, be sure to use your affiliate link. Here's how to get your affiliate link.
Sales Tip #9: Mention this or other programs if you're a speaker.
If you speak in front of groups, you my find many occasions to mention this Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™. The most effective way is to tell the audience how they will benefit from this information (they could lose weight, tone up, get exercise tips, increase energy, get along better with loved ones, manage their stress better, etc.).
You could even write the link on a flip chart, overhead, or put it in a PowerPoint slide. Give the audience a chance to write it down. Not only is this a "personal recommendation," but giving it "in person" makes an even greater impact than emailing it to them. A great way to make the link handy is to give them a link to a downloadable handout you provide them. That way they can click on your affiliate link to my website without retyping it. Again, make sure you put your affiliate link and recommendation in your handout materials if you use them (and and most of the time you should so people can easily find you). If you include the affiliate link, this way, people won't copy the link incorrectly.
Sales Tip #10: Slip a flier inside a product package.
Print an inexpensive insert to put in a package whenever you ship a product to one of your customers. This is a very effective way to put your personal recommendation in front of people who already are buying from you. It could be part of a "Thank You" note for purchasing. You could say something like:
"Thanks so much for purchasing our new and improved [widget]. Since we always like to give extra value to our customers, we recommend that you visit a fantastic site we discovered on the Internet to help you kick sweets and potentially improve your health, energy and concentration. [Then put an appropriate blurb about the program and your affiliate link.]
Of course, you don't have to use the exact thank you note above, but it's a good way to lead in to your personal recommendation. And the best part is this – doing this only costs you pennies. The customer has already purchased and probably paid the shipping, so it's a much better deal than doing a separate mailing that, comparatively, would cost a fortune.
Sales Tip #11: Trade articles with ezine publishers.
If you have a newsletter or ezine, trade ads with other newsletter or ezine publishers, or better yet, trade article space. Many times the classified ads are never seen by people because they mentally tune them out as they skim through a newsletter. Articles, however, get a much higher attention level, and they also give you more space to make your recommendation.
Don't get me wrong. If someone wants to trade ads, go for it. You have nothing to lose, but if you get a chance at article space, take that first. You might want to write several different articles. Some newsletters will want higher content and not much of a pitch, and others don't care how blatant you pitch their readers. Have several articles ready to go if you plan on using this idea and let the newsletter publishers pick which one they like. Send them the conservative one first so you don't scare them off from making a deal. (By the way, I'm always looking for tips and short articles for my Motivating Morsels Monday ezine, so feel free to send me one to publish, and then I can promote your programs, too.)
Sales Tip #12: Lead your customers to the Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™ sales page.
One of the easiest things you can do is use your affiliate link to lead your customers to the Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™ sales page. But make sure to include your affiliate link!
Sales Tip #13: Use audio testimonials at your website.
A written testimonial from you is great. But if you can pair a written testimonial with an identical audio testimonial, and include a photo of yourself, your customers not only see your smiling face but they can hear the enthusiasm in your voice, which just might convince them to click through to sign up for this kick-sugar program. I highly recommend an excellent audio program called Audio Generator. (If you sign up, please give out my Affiliate ID: 259125.)
Sales Tip #14: Include your affiliate URL in your info products.
Whenever you provide electronic special reports, transcripts or ebooks, you can promote products for this program or other kick-sugar programs. (Remember, you can urge people on your mailing list to use all of these techniques to promote you, too.)
Sales Tip #15: Buy pay-per-click advertising.
Ad programs sponsored by companies such as Google and Yahoo! let you bid on keywords and create little ads that pop up on the screen when somebody searches for that same keyword. You pay so much per click. (FYI, I'm not currently doing this, but as you can see, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition does this, as do many other savvy marketers and organizations.)
Sales Tip #16: Use your affiliate link on your "My Favorite Vendors" page.
I'm a loyal customer of many of the people to whose affiliate programs I belong. That's because I love their products and services. So I'm in the process of creating a "My Favorite Vendors Page" telling my clients and people on my mailing list where they can find some of the same products and services I use. The page will, of course, include affiliate links that those programs or people assigned to me. You can do the same. Always test your affiliate link first to make sure it works before giving it to someone. Otherwise, you will NOT get credit for the referral.
Sales Tip #17: Tell Your Friends and Family.
Spread the word about this program or my other kick-sugar programs to friends who are frustrated because they're not losing weight, they're hooked on sugar, can't find time for exercise or are stressed out. Or tell people at family events or work parties. You may choose to bring a small slip of paper with a copy of your affiliate link on it or you just e-mail them your link when you get home. Bear in mind I recommend a "soft sell" approach so it's advisable only to mention this to people, who appear interested in a program such as this.

I am very serious about this. Affiliates sending unsolicited commercial email or posting to "inappropriate" newsgroups will not be tolerated. It is against your affiliate agreement to advertise my website or programs via unsolicited email. Some people think that affiliate "Spam" email originated from me, damaging my reputation and causing me many administrative problems. DO NOT send unsolicited email to promote me or my programs, or you will be in violation of your affiliate agreement, and your account will be terminated, forfeiting all outstanding referral fees. Your cooperation and understanding is appreciated.
However, do not get this confused with PROPER WAYS to promote this Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction Program™ and my other products. Please recommend this program in a personal email to your clientele base, your lead lists, people that contact you, people you stay in touch with, a newsletter list, at your website, in your blog, even in appropriate email discussion lists, etc. This is not spamming.

Sales Tip #18: Share Info to Your Facebook Friends.
Now that social media is so big, I've become a fan of using Facebook to spread the word. While 90 to 95 % of the time, I share links to interesting articles, offer inspiring tidbits and share Smart Habit Tips, occasionally I'll promote a program. All you need is to write a quick sentence or two and then include your affiliate link. You could do this 3 or 4 times a day, with several hours in between. For instance, you could post something like this:
"Hooked on sugar? Want to lose weight? My friend Sugar Expert @Connie Bennett -- author of the bestselling book Sugar Shock! -- has an life-changing 6-week program to help you Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction. Early Bird rates are in effect until April 15.) Info is below."
Then add your affiliate link for the Break Free Program page so that artwork for the program pops up on your Facebook updates.
Sales Tip #19: Post info on friends' Facebook pages and online groups.
Finally, you also can spread the word on friends' Facebook pages or online groups to which you belong. You can use the following:
"Want to lose weight? Tired of your sugar habit? My friend Sugar Expert @Connie Bennett -- author of the bestselling book Sugar Shock! -- has an life-changing 6-week program to help you Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction. Early Bird rates are in effect until April 15. Info is below."
Then, as before, include your affiliate link.
Sales Tip #20: Tweet about the program.
With Twitter being quite popular these days, you can post 3 or 4 tweets a day (with several hours in between posts). You can use the following -- it's no longer 140 characters:
"Hooked on sugar? Wanna lose weight? @SmartHabitsGirl -- author of Sugar Shock! -- offers a 6-week Break Free program. "
Make sure to include a short URL of your affiliate link at the end. (To shorten your URL, just go to http://www.bit.ly or http://www.tinyurl.com and pop in the URL you want to shorten. Please check the link before you send it.)
